1917 Oct 30. Letter in his records- 87 Lower Dorset Street, October 30th, 1917. To the Officer Commanding, Belfast war Hospital. Private Bernard McGrath. My son never had any one on fathers or mothers side suffering from any Nervous complaint of mental ailments or any fits or worries he had he was in the one employment for 11 years before he joined the army and if he is said to be I will be quite willing to take the entire charge of him. I would have answered sooner only I did not arrive from Belfast until to-day from seeing my son. Hoping you will see your way to get him discharged as I am really heartbroken about him as he is the only one i have. Yours respectfully, Mary McGrath.
