Aungier St, Dublin Ambush

- 6.30 pm a lorry of S Lancs soldiers was attacked in central Dublin.It consisted of an officer and 12 Other Ranks
- 3 bombs were thrown and 2 of them exploded in the lorry
- 2 soldiers died and 6 including the officer were wounded. One of the soldiers later died
- A number of civilians were also wounded
- The dead soldiers were

- Private Whiting
- L/Cpl Jarvis
- The soldiers that were wounded were

- Pte (3645635), G.Stokes,
- Pte (3644931, ) H.Pendlebury,
- Pte (3645345) W.Coley,
- Pte(3645376) B.Davidson.
- Despite the newspaper account the junction described Montague St, Camden Row, Lower Camden street, Wexford Street is about 300 yards from Aungier street so suggest that junction Wexford Street and Camden Street would be more accurate. The shop where people were assisted Douglas drapers was there until the 1980s.
